Konan Judo

A message from Konan Judo Club Sanix Organizing Committee and Jerry Wee, Team Manager: We are presently accepting applications for team members 2011 Sanix Jr. High School Team Championship Team. We presently have 6 positions open.  The application deadline is July 31, 2011.

The Sanix Youth Team Championship has been established to:

1. Foster the spread and advancement of Junior High School Judo
2. Train and educate future participants for the Olympic Games and World Championships
3. Provide youth with the chance to meet with their counterparts from different cultural backgrounds in order to help contribute to their development as individuals with a global vision.

The Sanix Championships are limited to Competitors born on or after April 2nd, 1997. The cost for travel and accommodations is approximately $2000 per player, ($1700 airfare and $300 accommodations). The team will arrive in Fukuoka, Japan on December 22 and leaves Fukuoka December 29, 2011. Based on past experience, after distribution of USJF funding support, each applicant would still be expected to fund between $1,500 and $1,700 of the trip expenses depending on their point of origin.

In order to apply for a position on the team, we are requesting that interested applicants send an email to Gerald Wee (click here) that includes your:

1. name
2. rank
3. age (date of birth)
4. weight
5. years in judo
6. club
7. sensei(s)
8. tournament record in 2010 – 11, and
9. letter of recommendation from your Sensei.

This application must be received no later than July 31, 2011.

Also, to ensure funding, parents will be asked to acknowledge that they can fund their portion of expenses. All of athletes will be expected to write a report of their experiences and submit it to Konan and USJF. Please submit your application no later than July 31, 2011 and you will be notified by August 15, 2011 on your status. Team members will be representing USJF, Konan Yudanshakai, and American Judo.

In addition to evaluating tournament record in the Junior Nationals, Scholastics, President’s Cup, your State and Yudanshakai Championship, as well as the Junior Olympics, we will be focusing on your character and attitude. Your letter of recommendation is very important.

I will be acting in the capacity of Team Manager for the 2011 event.  Along with the 2011 Konan Judo Club Sanix Organizing Committee, I will be selecting the team and the judoka that will be partially funded. The 2011 Konan Judo Club Sanix Organizing Committee consists of:
