Passing of Bill Clark-sensei

William (“Bi;;”) Archie Clark, age 77 years, passed away Friday, February 09, 2018 at his residence in Essexville, Michigan.

He was born on July 30, 1940 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of the late William E. and Phyllis (Fellows) Clark.

Bill was united in marriage to Rosalind Barnett on September 24, 1960 and she preceded him in death on June 27, 1996.

He was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church.

Bill was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 for more than 50 years. He worked with his father at Clark Contracting for 40 years. In the winter months he was a substitute teacher with the Essexville and Bay City Public Schools where he was known as “Sarge”.

Bill was also a very passionate member of the US Judo Federation where he attained his Black Belt 7th Degree.  Bill was a regular competitor in Michigan judo tournaments for many decades, known to all for his love of judo.

Surviving family include his children, Kathryn Clark, William (Brenda) Clark, Krista Kloha and Matthew Clark; grandchildren, Gabrielle (Steven), Griffin, William, Brittany, Eric (Hannah), Sarah (Brian), Christopher, Kevin (Ashley), Alyssa and Caitlin; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Clark; brothers-in-law, Lindsey Spurlock and William (Sherry) Barnett; sister-in-law, Kathy (Jim) McDonald and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bud Barnett and sisters-in-law, JoAnne Clark and Janice Spurlock.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Bay City MI. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Private burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to wishes of the family.
