CLARIFICATION REGARDING POINTS AT THE 2013 PRESIDENT’S CUP

The President’s Cup is a Senior “C” level point event. It is also a Junior Point event, thus creating TWO point opportunities for some Juniors.

Senior Competition:

Athletes born 1998 or earlier are eligible to enter and earn points in the Senior competition. That includes all Senior age athletes, plus IJF Jr and Juvenile B athletes. Athletes who meet these age parameters, enter and place in the Senior Shiai portion will earn 5 Senior points for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd and 1 for 5th place.

Any of the athletes who place in the Senior Shiai portion and who were born in 1993-1998, will ALSO earn Junior points at a 3 x multiplier. Juniors who place in the Senior Shiai earn 15, 9, 6 or 3 Junior points based on 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 5th place finishes. This means that if a 16 year old wins the Senior Women’s 57kg division, she will receive 5 Senior points AND she will receive 15 Junior points on her age-appropriate Junior roster.

Junior  Competition:

The Junior divisions of the President’s Cup are also pointable. These points can be earned by any Junior who places 1st 2nd or 3rd in any of the regular Junior divisions. Points will be awarded at the rate of 2 points for 1st, 1 for 2nd and 0.5 for 3rd place.
