Rick Hawn Clinic – May 4 – 6, 2012

2004 JUDO OLYMPIAN & BELLATOR PRO MMA FIGHTER Mr. Rick Hawn will be conducting a three day (May 4 and 5 at Chu To Bu Dojo in Ohio and May 6 in Michigan at Saito-dojo, Birmingham YMCA) workshop covering kids judo, competitive judo, applications of judo in no-gi Grappling, jiu jitsu & MMA.

Rick has established himself as one of USA’s finest judokas competing on The USA Olympic Judo Team in 2004 & USA World Judo Team in 2007. Rick is currently one of Bellator’s premier fighters, competing in the Lightweight Tournament for Bellator’s Championship Belt. Click here to see Rick use his judo to win an MMA fight.

Lifetime Achievement of Saito Sensei to be Honored by USA Judo

The life and work of Mr. Noboru Saito  will be honored by USA Judo at the annual Night of Champions on April 19th in the Grand Ballroom of the Irving Convention Center. Mr. Saito has not only been a local leader within Konan and JAM and mentor to countless area judoka – He has also been a leader at the highest levels of American judo, serving as the President of the USJF and then (and currently) a Director of USA Judo, representing referees.

The Night of Champions will feature a sit-down dinner, guest speaker, silent auction and program highlighting the honorees. The event is scheduled to coincide with USA Judo’s Senior National Championships.

This is the second year of the event, designed to honor the leaders and supporters of our great sport with Lifetime Achievement Awards.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 19th, beginning at 6:30 PM at the Grand Ballroom of the Irving Convention Center. Tickets are $100.  Please consider attending this event to personally thank Mr. Saito for his great and lengthy contribution to American judo.

USA Judo Scholastic Nationals – Full Konan/JAM Report – Dr. Rick Joseph

Earlier this month Nick Joseph and Gabriela and Daniela Gomez traveled to Irving TX, with the assistance of Konan, JAM and Michigan Judo Development Association.

All three did very well, scoring two silver medals and one bronze.  Congratulations to these young athletes, competing against some of the country’s best players.
