With nearly 850 competitors already registered and a few more expected to trickle in today, USA Judo’s Junior Olympic National Championship is well past huge and might be the largest of this premier tournament for youth ever.
Some of the divisions already have more than 20 boys and girls each, with kids attracted from all over the country and some international players. This is likely the largest Junior Olympics on record and it is definitely the largest event for USA Judo this year with more competitors than any other single event in 2012, event officials said.
Competition begins today, Friday, July 22, and continues Saturday and Sunday.
