Olympic Gold Medalist in judo and MMA-fighter, Satoshi Ishii of Japan, registered today to fight in the open weight division Saturday at USA Judo’s Senior National Championships in Orlando, Florida.

Ishii has twice taken gold in the prestigious All-Japan Championships in Tokyo and gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijingfighting in 100+ kg divisions. Ishii then moved quickly into Mixed Martial Arts after his Olympic win.

Saturday is packed with stars, including USA Judo’s Kayla Harrison, who won the World Championship in Tokyo last year. Harrison, coached by Jimmy Pedro at Team FORCE in Wakefield, Mass., is one of the nation’s best shots at a gold medal in London at the Olympics next year.

The Senior Nationals this year is guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever with a $500 purse to go with every gold medal in all senior shiai divisions (NOT including the open weight divisions, kata and visually-impaired competition).
