Dear Judoka,

Thank you for attending the 2010 Indiana Open State Championships held in Portland, IN on May 15, 2010. We had a great turnout this year with 280 competitors representing 30 different clubs from 7 states. We would like to congratulate all the athletes who participated in these State Championships.

This year the winner of the team competition was Anderson YMCA from Anderson, IN. In second place was Judan Judo from Portland, IN and third was Bushido Sports Center from Ft Wayne, IN.   Please see the attached document for a complete listing of teams and final results.  If any inaccuracies are found please contact Brad Daniels at

We would like to apologize for the delay and inconveniences caused by the new pooling program. With Jim and Hannah Stracher retiring this past year, we had to learn a new system and with anything new, there are growing pains. You do not realize how well a job has been done until they leave.

We would like to thank the many volunteers, parents, businesses and other organizations that helped support the State Championships. Your help is invaluable and we could not have done it without you.

This announcement came following the signing of a document on Friday which outlines a working plan for moving into the future by the presidents of both organizations.   “It is obvious to all concerned, and more importantly to both of our organizations’ leaderships, that we need better and more frequent communication and cooperation between our two groups,” said USA Judo President Lance Nading (Denver, Colo.)  “As the National Governing Body for the sport of judo, it is important for us to work with every group who can help us move the sport forward at all levels. The USJA has been around for a long time and has the grassroots infrastructure in many regions of the country that we do not. It is here where we believe the rubber meets the road and where we think we can work together to grow judo in this nation… more>
